Business Developer for Custom Software Solutions (40% – 80%)
Tegonal is a software cooperative based in Bern with 7 team members. For over 20 years we've been building custom fullstack solutions with modern technologies and contributing actively to the open-source community. Our clients range from enterprises to NGOs and non-profits. We focus on web applications and backend services that make organisations work better — complemented by a wide range of open-source projects and tools.
What makes us different
As a small cooperative, we're built on long-term, fair relationships — within the team and with our clients. Our flat structure means you shape decisions and bring your own ideas. On top of that:
- A solidarity-based compensation model: bonuses are shared equally, based on workload, pay grade, and the cooperative's success.
- A real say in how the organisation evolves.
- Technological variety: Java, Kotlin, Angular, React, and modern DevOps tooling.
- A strong commitment to open source and sustainability.
- In time: the opportunity to become a cooperative member — with an active role in strategic decisions.
The role
We're looking for a Business Developer to actively drive our growth — starting immediately or by arrangement. Your job is to spot opportunities, win new partnerships and clients, and work with our engineers to shape the right solutions. When capacity is covered, you'll get involved in marketing, outreach, or — depending on your interests — project management.
What you can expect
- A collegial, agile team with a flat hierarchy.
- Independent, family-friendly work with real autonomy.
- Flexible hours, in the office or remote.
- Varied responsibilities that keep things interesting.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute a business development strategy.
- Identify market opportunities and build lasting partnerships.
- Maintain and grow existing client relationships.
- Own proposals, contract negotiations, and project initiation.
- Contribute to marketing and communications.
What you bring
- At least 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or consulting — ideally in a software context.
- A knack for spotting opportunities and turning them into something real.
- Strong communication and analytical skills, with initiative and a collaborative mindset.
- Comfortable with office tools (ideally LibreOffice/OpenOffice).
- Languages: fluent German is essential; strong English is a plus; French is a bonus.
